From 1913 to 1925, the manufacturing industies, Kisha-Seizo, Kawasaki, and Japan National Railway Kokura Works, had produced the 770 cars of this class. The steam locomotives of the same class were used at China KD55 class and Taiwan DT580 class too. These had been used to 1976. Then now 48 cars are kept everywhere.
