From 1929 to 1933, the manufacturing industies, Kisha-Seizo, Kawasaki, Mitsubishi, Nippon-Sharyo, and Hitachi, had produced the 154 cars of this class. The steam locomotives of the same class were used at Sakhalin and Taiwan(CT230 class) too. These had been used to 1972. Then now 6 cars are kept everywhere.
