From 1935 to 1939, the manufacturing industries, Kisha-Seizo, Kawasaki, Hitachi, Mitsubishi, and Nippon-Sharyo, had produced the 160 cars of this class. These had been used to 1973. Then now JR West Railway and Ohigawa Railway keeps one working order car of this class, and the 23 cars are kept everywhere.
