From 1951 to 1956, the manufacturing industries, JNR Nagano Works, JNR Hamamatsu Works, and JNR Tsuchizaki Works, had reproduced the 78 cars of this class from D50 class. These had been used to 1973. Then now the 4 cars are kept everywhere.
