Jatibarang Sugar Factory Locomotives

The Jatibarang Sugar Factory was a sugar mill established during the Dutch colonial period, located in Jatibarang, Brebes Regency, Central Java. According to various sources, the factory was constructed in 1842. After Indonesian independence, it came under state management as part of the restructuring of the sugar industry, and was later operated as a production unit of PTPN IX, producing sugar and molasses.
In operational terms, reports and published materials indicate that the 2017 crushing season was the last, after which the factory was regarded as closed or inactive. Today, the factory buildings and facilities remain on site. While discussions continue regarding their preservation and reuse as industrial heritage and potential tourism resources, the former factory complex itself is treated as a historical relic following the cessation of operations.
